Abstract

Experimental
fatigue tests for S960 and S1100 steel grades laser cut notched geometries were
performed in this study. Fatigue test results were analyzed with traditional
nominal stress -method in order to compare fatigue performance to existing
standards. Finite- element method-based local stress method was found valid for
fatigue strength assessment of un-notched and notched cut edges. A 4R method
application including local cyclic behavior was introduced and utilized
together with residual stresses, local material properties and 3D-scanned true
surface quality and notch geometry induced stresses.
