Research project

Lightweight hybrid wooden composite materials for sustainable construction technology (SUSTECH)

Project Details

Start date: 01/01/2019

End date: 30/09/2021

Other International

The project aims to development and implementation of innovative nanocomposite material for organization of an easily accessible, well-maintained environment with purpose of cost-effective development of urban and rural areas in the Programme's region. The innovative technology of hybrid polymer-wood composites with external reinforcement opens up new possibilities for creating ultra-light but high-strength and high-resources structures in wooden house-building. Also hybrid polymer-wood composites with external reinforcement can be used in construction of infrastructural modules (arbors, minor bridges, bog footbridges, etc) in hard-to-reach zones in the Programme's core area. In addition, guidelines and various educational materials will be developed and distributed to ensure wide dissemination of information. Training programs will be developed for LUT University and St Petersburg Polytechnic University students and students of other universities and professionals.
