Abstract

Sustainable biomass production for various products
based on efficient carbon and nutrient recycling is one of the key issues in
providing sustainable biobased products. We propose the replacement of mineral fertilizers with recycled nutrients
from pulp and paper mill sludge. The qualitative
analysis showed the holistic value of the practice that goes beyond the direct
benefits. The use of recycled
nutrients from pulp and paper mill sludge in fast growing pulpwood production
is a closed loop, which is illustrative of the circular economy within the
integrated pulp and paper sector including the raw material source, forest
plantation.
