Abstract

Step response-based identification is important topic related to modern
process control and diagnostics. Although there are several adequate
identification methods available, namely graphical and computational
techniques, still there is increasing requirement to develop methods for
the diagnostics of electric drives. Particular importance can be found
in industrial applications where step input might be the only option for
excitation-based identification. In this paper, parameter estimation of
a diesel engine dynamics is carried out by considering automatized time
continuous method of moments approach. The applicability of the
proposed moment-based parameter estimation method is validated with
experimental step response tests obtained from a hybrid bus operated in
diesel engine only mode.
