Abstract

This paper deals with the optimal maintenance policy selection in complex industrial systems consisting of several interconnected pieces of equipment. A combined approach of simulation-optimization and system dynamic (SD) modeling is applied. We present a method where optimized maintenance schedules of the available equipment are used as an input in an SD-model of an industrial process. The simulation process is demonstrated using a load-haul-dump (LHD) system from the mining industry, where the objective function is the total throughput of material within a specified period of time.
