Linking supplier capabilities to buyer innovation performance: The role of buyer operations

Abstract


This study examines supplier capabilities, buyer operations and buyer
innovation performance in the e-business context. The data is collected from Finnish
online store operators. The results show that one of the dimensions of the
supplier capabilities (i.e., buyer-supplier relationship capabilities) is
positively related to buyer innovation performance, whereas two of the
dimensions (i.e., product capabilities and service delivery capabilities) do
not affect buyer innovation performance. We also found a negative moderating
effect of buyer operations between product capabilities and buyer innovation
performance, and a positive moderating effect of buyer operations between service
delivery capabilities and buyer innovation performance.
