Biography
I completed my doctoral studies at LUT in 2010. During my time at LUT, I have spent two periods abroad as a visiting researcher. The first one in Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany, took place in 2008. The second time I was a visiting researcher at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, in 2012 during my Post-doctoral period. I have been Associate Professor at LUT since 2014.

Research Interest
I work as an associate professor at the research group of Computational Fluid Dynamics. My main research areas are turbine and compressor aerodynamics and design with special interest in renewable energy production. In turbines, I have concentrated on subsonic, transonic and supersonic designs with ideal and real gases including both wet and dry flows. Whereas, in centrifugal compressors the conducted research has been dealing with subsonic designs including both diffuser and impeller studies.

The first objective of my research is to improve the performance of turbomachinery by better fundamental understanding of the internal flows in turbines and compressors. The found flow mechanisms and loss sources are further applied in the development of improved design methodology. The second objective is to combine different fields of science to solve both global and local energy related problems. I have been involved in studies that combine fluid dynamics and turbomachinery for example with electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, life cycle assessment and social studies.

The research areas include several different energy production processes e.g. Organic Rankine Cycles, steam turbines, gas turbines, micro turbines and wind turbines.

Teaching Experience
I am a lecturer/teacher in two Master's level courses in steam turbines and fluid machinery and a lecturer in two Bachelor's level courses in renewable energy and applied thermodynamics. I have also arranged and lectured a post-graduate course in computational fluid dynamics.
