Current Organisation

I started my Bachelor studies at LUT in 2009, and in 2011, I started working as a junior research assistant. In 2014, I graduated as M.Sc. (Tech.) and started the doctoral studies, which concentrated on low-Reynolds-number centrifugal compressors. In 2015, I spent three months at Leibniz University Hannover, Germany as a visiting researcher. During those three months, I assisted with the instrumentation and measurement of turbochargers, and learned about riblets, passive flow control method. I completed the degree of D.Sc. (Tech.) in Doctoral Programme in Energy Systems at LUT in 2018.

After the graduation, I spent six months at BRP-Rotax GmbH & Co KG, Gunskirchen, Austria as a visiting researcher. At BRP-Rotax, I was involved in a HySnow project, which was a joint project between BRP-Rotax, HyCentA (Hydrogen Center Austria), Technical University of Graz, Fronius, ElringKlinger, Ecusol, and the ski-resort Hinterstoder. The aim of the HySnow project was to decarbonize winter tourism by hydrogen powered fuel cell snowmobiles. My task in the project was to design a compressor family of three compressors for fuel cell applications in the range from 10 to 50 kW. Within the project, I shared the knowledge about compressor design with the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) Simulation Engineers of BRP-Rotax, I learned much about the compressor design process, and about project management.

Since 2018, I have worked as a post-doctoral researcher at LUT.

Research Interest
My research concentrates on turbomachinery, especially centrifugal compressors. I have gained expertise in CFD and flow field measurements. I am interested in developing energy carrier and storage technologies, improving energy efficiency and utilizing waste heat. I would like to learn more about cavitation of cryogenic fluids in order to understand better the loss mechanisms in various energy storage technologies.

Teaching Experience
In addition to doing research, I enjoy also teaching and teaching development. I have completed 32 cr in Training in University Pedagogy (2017-2020). To learn more about education, I took Professional Teacher Education (60 cr) at Tampere University of Applied Sciences in 2019.

Currently I am a teacher in charge in the course Design of Fluid Machinery (M.Sc., 5 cr), and a lecturer in the courses Fluid Mechanics I (B.Sc., 3 cr), Fluid Machinery (M.Sc., 4 cr), Introduction to Energy Technology for EnTeDi Students (M.Sc., 4 cr), and Virtaustekniikka II (in Finnish, B.Sc., 2 cr). I am also organizing the seminar day in the course Steam Turbines (M.Sc., 3 cr).

The Student Union of Lappeenranta University of Technology awarded a prize for the course Virtaustekniikka I (currently lectured in English: Fluid Mechanics I), which was the best course in the semester 2016-2017 at Lappeenranta University of Technology.
