Biography
D.Sc.(Tech.) Antti Salminen is Professor of laser materials processing with the LUT University. He is is a pioneer in research and development of laser materials processing in Finland typically combining science and business applications, theory and practice, thus working with industries in order to improve their performance and products. He has extensive experience various on various processes and applications of laser materials processing in manufacturing and its effect on products and production. He also has trans-disciplinary background of science and industrial working principles. He has experience over 30 years in applying research, development and innovation by novel manufacturing technologies to industrial cases. Professor Salminen has published more than 300 international publications. He has also played major role in development of university and industry education of modern manufacturing in Finland. Currently he is leading a 25 ECTS points minor on laser materials processing. He is chair of Finnish laser user club “Laser Forum”, board member of Finnish additive manufacturing society (FIRPA), member of scientific board of Photonics Finland and national delegate of commissions I and IV in IIW.
