Research Interests
My research is focused on theoretical, numerical and experimental modelling of so-called non-ideal compressible flows.
Non-ideal flows are found in a wide variety of energy systems and chemical processes, e.g. compressors for refrigeration cycles, transportation of high-pressure fuels and chemicals, and expanders for Organic Rankine Cycles (ORC) and superctitical CO2 (sCO2) power cycles. Fluid flows involved in these applications depart from textbook fluid dynamics and the perfect-gas model due to the molecular complexity of the working fluids and/or operation close to or above the critical point.
Together with the research group of Fluid Dynamics, I am working to achieve a better understanding of the physics of non-ideal flows, with the goal of devising more efficient design solutions for ORC and sCO2 turbomachinery.
