I work as an assistant professor (tenure track) of sustainability science at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT). My research focuses on new socio-ecological models and sustainability management in the areas of circular economy and climate change mitigation. I am especially interested in inter-organizational collaboration, institutional changes and participatory policy approaches. I explore sustainability transitions, industrial symbioses, circular business and design models and innovation processes.

Previously I have worked in research projects on sustainability challenges in the Global South (especially in the areas of energy, water and housing), risk governance of carbon capture and storage in Europe, environmentally sound industrial production in Scandinavia and the social implications of climate change in the Nordic peripheries. In my doctoral thesis (2015), I identified institutional obstacles of industrial recycling and proposed new ways for overcoming them.
