Research Interest
Over the last four decades, a large body of literature has focused on the firm’s strategic choice of how to enter foreign markets, making it one of the most researched topics in International Business (IB). There is, however, a long-lasting discrepancy between theory and practice regarding how firms actually use and modify their modes of operation. The decision-making process behind changing a mode after initial entry or modes used in parallel in one market has also gained little attention in the IB literature. Accordingly, the aim of my research is to study the post-entry behavior of the firm, in both advanced and emerging markets, more deeply and from an empirical perspective. Considering Real Options Theory as the main theory, both qualitative and quantitative methods are utilized to do the research. By the end of my study, I expect to explore this new emerging and unexplored area of study in IB literature, i.e. mode combinations and mode change, more deeply, empirically, and realistically.
